dear daring critic, why insult me so
why come to me and ramble on about
how you believe I've yet to learn to show
with all my words a style which less will doubt
my fluency may echo with a tone
of bygone times when others read my work
when you had stated what you felt was known
as proper for our times you made me smirk
o critic scorn me not with narrow thought
the way you seem just motivates my soul
to further fetch what beauty it had sought
and write it with the means to bear this whole
please spare me from your thoughtless point of view
i bid my heart to guide me through and through
I once got criticized for not having a perfect rhyme... it was a similar sound but not perfect. I am of the opinion that when it comes to poetry there are no rules... you write from the heart.
ReplyDeleteWriters write... but poets feel.
And you are a poet :)
